Getting started

Here are some things you can expect as you consider and start treatment.

Before you are prescribed CAMZYOS:

  • Your doctor will conduct a baseline echocardiogram to confirm whether CAMZYOS is right for you
  • Your doctor will explain the CAMZYOS Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program, required by the FDA to ensure the safe use of CAMZYOS, and you will complete the enrollment form together
  • Tell your doctor about all the prescription or over-the-counter medicines, including vitamins and herbal supplements, you are taking, or plan to take. Also, be sure to tell your doctor if you are taking medicines to treat your obstructive HCM disease
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you plan to become pregnant or breastfeed
  • Tell your doctor what form of birth control you may be using
  • Tell your doctor if you are developing an infection

When you are prescribed CAMZYOS:

  • Your CAMZYOS prescription will be sent to a specialty pharmacy where it will be filled by mail. CAMZYOS will not be available at your local pharmacy
  • When you receive your medication, you will work with your doctor to schedule regular echocardiograms
  • Your doctor may sign you up for the MyCAMZYOS Patient Support program. If you enroll after your doctor prescribes CAMZYOS, a Nurse Navigator from the program will be in touch with you within one business day
  • Do not stop or change the dose of a medicine or start a new medicine without telling your healthcare provider

Nurse Navigators can provide general information about CAMZYOS but cannot provide medical advice. Your doctor is the best source of information about your health.

CAMZYOS is a capsule that should be taken at the same time once a day. It can be taken with or without food.

Take CAMZYOS exactly as your healthcare provider directs:

  • Do not change your dose of CAMZYOS without talking to your doctor first
  • Swallow the capsule whole without breaking, opening, or chewing it
  • If you miss a dose of CAMZYOS, take it as soon as possible and take your next dose at your regular time the next day. Do not take 2 doses on the same day to make up for a missed dose
  • Your healthcare provider may change, temporarily stop, or permanently stop your treatment with CAMZYOS if you have certain side effects
  • If you take too much CAMZYOS, call your healthcare provider or go to the nearest hospital emergency room right away

For complete information on taking CAMZYOS, please see U.S. Full Prescribing Information, including Boxed WARNING and Medication Guide.

Tell your doctor about other medicines

One of the most important things you can do before and during treatment with CAMZYOS is to tell your doctor about any medications you are taking, plan to take, or stop taking.

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Taking CAMZYOS with certain medicines or grapefruit juice may cause heart failure.

Do not stop or change the dose of a medicine or start a new medicine without telling your healthcare provider.

Especially tell your healthcare provider if you:

  • Take over-the-counter medicines such as omeprazole (for example, Prilosec®), esomeprazole (for example, Nexium®), or cimetidine (for example, Tagamet®)
  • Take other medicines to treat your obstructive HCM disease
  • Develop an infection

If you do start on CAMZYOS, you must schedule regular echocardiogram appointments as instructed by your cardiologist. These tests allow your doctor to see how your heart is responding to treatment, make sure you are on the optimal dose, and monitor for safety. Based on your echocardiogram results, your doctor may increase, decrease, or keep your dose the same—or temporarily pause or discontinue your treatment.

Get off to a good start

When you receive your medicine, ask your doctor to schedule your first 3 follow-up echocardiograms. Missed or delayed appointments can lead to an interruption in your treatment.

Monitoring requirements with
CAMZYOS include:

CAMZYOS Treatment Echocardiogram Schedule
After your
first dose
Follow-up echocardiograms at 4, 8, and 12 weeks after your first dose of CAMZYOS

Then every 12 weeks while you are taking CAMZYOS
If your doctor makes any changes in your treatment, including changing your dose Your doctor will let you know if additional echocardiograms are required

Don’t forget!

Set reminders for your echocardiograms on your smartphone or calendar. You can also receive appointment reminders from your Nurse Navigator through the MyCAMZYOS Patient Support program.
