If you do start on CAMZYOS®, you must schedule regular echo appointments as instructed by your cardiologist. These tests allow your doctor to see how your heart is responding to treatment, make sure you are on the optimal dose, and monitor for safety. Based on your echo results, your doctor may increase, decrease, or keep your dose the same—or temporarily pause or discontinue your treatment.
Updated Echo Schedule Summary
Here is a summary of the updated CAMZYOS echo monitoring schedule. Of course, everyone’s situation is different—so it’s important to work with your healthcare team to confirm your individual echo schedule.
FDA Approves Reduced Echo Frequency for CAMZYOS
For Select Patients Who Are in the Maintenance Phase:
- past initial 12 weeks of therapy with CAMZYOS, and
- on a stable dose confirmed by a cardiologist
The Change:
- BEFORE: once every 12 weeks (4x a year)
- NOW: once every 6 months (2x a year) after your cardiologist confirms your eligibility
A 3-month echo schedule may be required in certain situations. See chart above.
Why was this change made?
Clinical safety data collected over 3.5 years through clinical trials and in real patients who take CAMZYOS was submitted to the FDA to support this update.†
†Including a long-term 5-year study of CAMZYOS in patients with symptomatic oHCM, who had also completed a primary study, as well as safety data from the CAMZYOS Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy program.
Get off to a good start
When you receive your medicine, consider asking your doctor to schedule your first 3 follow-up echos. Missed or delayed appointments can lead to an interruption in your treatment.
Don’t forget!
Set reminders for your echos on your smartphone or calendar.
