WHAT IS CAMZYOS?

If you have symptomatic obstructive HCM, talk to your doctor about CAMZYOS, an entirely new treatment option that may be right for you.

CAMZYOS is a prescription medicine used to treat adults with symptomatic obstructive HCM and may improve both your symptoms and your ability to be active.

CAMZYOS WORKS DIFFERENTLY

CAMZYOS is a cardiac myosin inhibitor, which targets the source of symptomatic obstructive HCM—deep within the heart muscle.

To understand how CAMZYOS works, it’s helpful to know how certain proteins help contribute to the pumping action of your heart:

Normal heart

Normal heart

Two proteins in the heart muscle, called myosin and actin, contribute to your heart pumping by connecting (making the heart contract) and releasing (allowing the heart to relax).

Heart with obstructive HCM

Heart with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM)

In obstructive HCM, myosin and actin form too many connections with each other, causing the heart to contract too much, which can make it difficult for it to relax.

CAMZYOS binds to myosin so that it “lets go” of actin, reducing the excessive connections between them. This action allows your heart muscle to relax more.

Why is it important to know how CAMZYOS works?

In people with symptomatic obstructive HCM, reducing the connections between myosin and actin
may decrease the obstruction and improve heart function (how the heart relaxes and fills with blood).

TALKING WITH
YOUR DOCTOR

Here are some questions to help you get the
conversation started:

  • What is CAMZYOS?
  • How does CAMZYOS work differently?
  • What are the potential benefits and risks of CAMZYOS?
  • How is CAMZYOS taken?
  • What are the monitoring and safety requirements of the CAMZYOS Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy, or REMS, program?
  • Where would I receive my echocardiograms, and how would we schedule them?
  • What are the side effects of CAMZYOS, and is there anything else, such as a Boxed WARNING, that I should know about?

During your appointment, your doctor will want
to know about:

  • Any HCM symptoms you are having and how they affect you
  • Your medical history, including your history with symptomatic obstructive HCM and your current treatment plan
  • Medicines that you take to manage your symptomatic obstructive HCM
  • All the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements (even if you don’t take them every day)
  • Any procedures and/or surgeries you have had to treat your obstructive HCM
  • If you have an infection or are at risk for infection
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you plan to become pregnant or breastfeed
